Carol learned about CHIX 4 a Cause through a close friend’s mom who attends Carol’s church. After finding out Carol had cancer, the mom connected her with her friend Jillian Clark, founder/CEO of CHIX 4 a Cause.
Carol mentioned how difficult working an eight-hour day was because of her cancer treatment. Although she felt exhausted attempting to work full-time, her disability payments had run out, and she needed to help pay her family’s bills.
Carol was overwhelmed by the generosity of CHIX 4 a Cause when she received her Gifts of Love. When her husband & she celebrated their 31 st anniversary in October, they used a gift card from the Charcoal Grill to take their two sons out for a celebratory dinner. That weekend, Carol planned to use a gift card for a local movie theater to see a film based on a book she greatly enjoyed. She also appreciated the gift cards for groceries from Pick ‘n Save and gas from Kwik Trip, the essential oils, meditation CDs, candles, and other Gifts of Love.
Carol was so touched by CHIX 4 a Cause that she’s eager to give back to cancer patients when she’s feeling stronger. She said that CHIX went way above and beyond what she expected, and she’s happily spreading the word about how we help cancer patients. Carol also pointed out that the majority of our fundraising goes directly to helping cancer patients, so donors know most of their money is going directly to their local community.
Carol said that because her husband & she were both going through cancer treatment at the same time, they understood what the other was experiencing, and knew how to help each other through the ups and downs. She stated that the bond between them was becoming even stronger due to the storm they were enduring together.

Gifts of Love are unique to each cancer patient’s needs and help improve their emotional well-being. Typical Gifts include mortgage or rent assistance, gas or grocery cards, a family weekend away, theater or concert tickets, or taxi or bus passes. Gifts of Love can go a long way toward improving a patient’s quality of life at a time when help is needed not only due to mounting medical bills, but also as they struggle with the realities of a cancer diagnosis.
