Emily learned about CHIX 4 a Cause through a friend who was conducting online research into local support groups for cancer patients. When Jillian Clark, Founder/CEO of CHIX 4 a Cause, and two volunteers presented Emily with her Gifts of Love, she gratefully accepted gift cards for Pick ‘n Save, Trader Joe’s, Aldi’s, Target, Speedway, and one of her favorite restaurants. Emily was also thrilled to be given a prayer shawl, meditation CDs, candle holder with the word “Hope,” essential oils specially blended for cancer patients, CHIX 4 a Cause hat, Raggedy Andy dolls for her two sons, and pamphlets containing information on local resources for cancer patients.
Emily felt extreme happiness when receiving her Gifts of Love. Because she had to take off work for five months during her cancer treatment, her husband & she spent much of their savings keeping up with their family’s bills. Emily was relieved to have some of the financial burden taken off when receiving her Gifts of Love. She felt overwhelmed being given so much, as though she were in a dream. Knowing there are good people out there made Emily feel better about the world.
Emily said when Jillian and the two volunteers arrived at Emily’s home the day before Christmas Eve, it felt like Christmas had come early. Jillian & the crew were amazing and the Gifts of Love were awesome. Emily felt immense comfort and peace of mind, knowing she was receiving the help she needed but was unable to secure elsewhere. She has been recommending CHIX 4 a Cause’s services to every cancer patient she meets. Emily also plans to attend our Evening of Celebration in May and to give back however she can. She’s a highly skilled crafter who has generously offered her services, including creating beautiful wreaths, wherever we see a need.

Gifts of Love are unique to each cancer patient’s needs and help improve their emotional well-being. Typical Gifts include mortgage or rent assistance, gas or grocery cards, a family weekend away, theater or concert tickets, or taxi or bus passes.
